I agree that Bush lied, but two wrong don't make a right. And are you honestly telling me that everything in the movie was absolutely true? no lies? no stretches, no exaggerations? Nothing but the exact non biased truth? come on now.

i didnt say that at all...
if you read the entire thread you would have noticed that i have already agreed that Moore does do all of the following to get his point across in his movies...
but if your telling me that everything Moore brings up in that movie is a complete fabrication than theres something wrong there...

all im saying is jimbo is a big boy... big enough to call people names like "fat ass" behind their back and behind his monitor...
if he cant take a little joke from me then tell him to go join www.sesamestreet.com

oh I never said that the movie was a complete fabrication, and I dont believe it is, just some parts. I just think if somone wants to make an argument for or against somthing, they should base it on the facts and not on the aforementioned.

i totally agree..

Is it fabrication, or just bad evidence? I've read numerous cases that were decided wrongly on the basis of bad or insufficient evidence. I think both sides make valid points, but to say that one is either right or wrong based on the evidence presented would be foolhardy.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Joke from Futurama

Leela: The first robot president won by exactly one vote
Bender: John Quenciatty machine. He won it over with voters when he promised not to go on a killing spree
Hubert: But like most politicians he promissed more then he could deliver

huh? how else would you decide somthing other than on the facts? Obviously, it is wrong to conclude somthing without enough evidence or on false facts. But if you have enough evidence and you know the evidence to be true, then it is not foolhardy to make a conclusion, it is logical.

Lemme give you an example. The most recent cases in Canada on the issue of same-sex marriage were decided on what I would term faulty evidence; that is, the evidence that decided the case was largely anthropological and cited examples of same-sex marriage type relationships in various cultures in the world. The vast majority of the evidence submitted on these groups was incredibly one-sided. How do I know? I researched one of these groups extensively, and the same-sex marriage situation in this scenario arose out of necessity i.e. no male descendants in the family to pass property on to. In this particular case, the eldest daughter would marry a woman of the tribe, and her kinsmen would copulate with her "wife" to raise offspring in the father's name. This was just one example, but the vast majority of these types of relationships amounted to nothing more than legalised prostitution. Nevertheless, the flawed research cited by the pro- same-sex marriage groups was the only evidence presented, and played a substantial role in the striking down of the common law definition of marriage in British Columbia and Ontario.

See my point?

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Sorry I don't. They came to a conclusion based on insuffient evidece. I only talking about coming to a conclusion on non biased, complete, and true evidence. And you aren't going to tell me that the evidence in the movie was non biased, complete, and true evidence are you?
Author
Time
No, I'm going to tell you that unbiased, complete, and absolutely true evidence is a rare occurrence in any scenario. Kind of grim, isn't it?

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Time
yeah, I have to agree with you, it is a rare occurance

perhaps I should have originaly said "if someone wants to make an argument for or against somthing, one of the things they should do is base it on the facts. It is not the only thing they should do, but it is one of the things they should do." that better GundarK?

Facts are slippery, especially when it comes to politicians. Fahrenheit 9/11 has a lot of facts in it, but the presentation and interpretation is what is getting Moore into hot water with hardcore right-wingers. Nothing new there, of course; the same thing happened with Roger & Me, The Big One and Bowling for Columbine.
