Cinderella (1950) 35mm Preservation opportunity! (a WIP) — Page 3

The new “Anniversary Edition/Signature Collection” Blu-Ray has been released and for our disappointment it’s the same awful transfer we had in the 2005 and 2012 dvd/blu-ray, same colors, same DNRed picture, same deleted lines, same deleted pieces of score… It’s just a pointless release and a lost opportunity to fix their mistakes.
Disney was aware of the awful state of this restoration and they did nothing, again.
I’m really mad at them I’m never buying a single Disney Blu-Ray or DVD. We deserve to see the original film as it was created in 1950, not to be stuck with the butchered version disastrously remastered in 2005.
I hope someday we will see this 35mm version, maybe not the most faithful source but yet, miles better than any other release this movie has ever had.

Is this still available, if so put me down for £5, maybe £5 for Pinocchio as well.

Is this still active? I’ll gladly contribute $25.

Wow! This 35mm preservation will bring back the original intended colours and right now we are stuck with the outdated transfer from 2005 with DNR and inaccurate colours.

I have donated in January, after I was promised a release in a few weeks, in order to have any possibility of getting a download link, but still no news…and I’m not getting any answer either.

Has anyone received anything? I’m not in any private torrent tracker where the film would be available, but I was promised a way to get it…

All I wish to know is:
Is this waiting normal?
Thanks.

I’m still waiting for things on my end, the scan (along with my print) has been shipped by sea. I didn’t ask for it to be sent that way, but that’s how it was sent.

I didn’t promise people a complete copy of this or that right away, sorry if it’s a bit slow. I should hopefully have another BATB print this year … but again that’s up to the seller and then I have to arrange to get it scanned as well. 😃 It takes time and a lot of expenses which are often out-of-reach.

I should be able to do something from the old scans soon, but they have issues as many people know.

Alternatively, if you don’t accept Bitcoin at present, I can convert some of my Bitcoin to USD and contribute the result via PayPal.

I’d love a copy of this, if all possible.

We have the opportunity to borrow and scan a Cinderella IB Technicolor print in the US. The cost of scanning this is $370. Total scanning costs are about $600. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you guys that’s a bargain, we don’t have to purchase, rent, or even ship the print.

And, the print is in EXCELLENT CONDITION. Probably better condition than my print. And, unlike mine, it can be scanned as soon as NEXT WEEK!

As some of you know I have a print as well and it can be scanned in the future. But this is a limited opportunity to get a print that’s in top condition scanned, and that may end up making scanning mine (which will cost more) unnecessary.

And more great news, after this is scanned we can rent Lady and the Tramp from the same source for scanning. And after that is scanned we can rent Sleeping Beauty too. And more!

Begin your pledges/donations, please!

Donations so far: $550 / 600

An exclusive early release will be made available to donors, hopefully followed by a wider “myspleen” release at some point later this year/early next year.

Short test scan done on the first couple of minutes of Reel 1:

It’s heavily compressed, but hopefully shows the condition the print is in. Remember that heads and tails of reels are where most of the wear usually is.

Cinderella is a two-phase project. Only donors will be given access to the phase 1 release.

Phase 1:

  • The borrowed print will be scanned.
  • Early access release will be made available exclusively to donors.

Phase 2:

  • My print will be scanned.
  • Wider release on Myspleen.

Are donations closed?

Also regarding the missing music cues, does that apply to only the 5.1 track?

They included a mono track on the BD
