I watched ‘Bob Roberts’ (1992) for the first time yesterday, a mockumentary that is funny as hell but progressively more depressing because it’s still so politically relevant. Tim Robbins plays a charismatic right wing senate candidate, who’s a bit like Trump if he was younger and played guitar. I might not have bought the fanaticism of Bob Robert’s supporters if not for seeing that kind of fanaticism play out for the last 4 years. The film has a couple of boring moments, but on the whole is very under-appreciated. Great performances from Tim Robbins, Alan Rickman and Moff Gideon ahem Giancarlo Esposito.
I find that political films like this always end up preaching to the converted, so in vain hope I’d encourage any conservatives around here to check it out and give your take on it.
