I'm curious as to why, exactly, this has an edge over the Millennium Edition DVD (I think that's the not-crappy one, anyway). I mean, at least in terms of the transfer. I don't think that those commentaries are on there. You could just so what DigitalFreakNYC did with Se7en and take an already existing, good DVD transfer and sync up the audio from the commentaries to that.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

IIRC, the Millennium Edition DVD was a re-issue of the Elite disc with a few added minor features. The Elite DVD was ported over from their 25th anniversary LD. There doesn't seem to be anything on the LD that isn't on those DVDs, except (I presume) the gag at the beginning of side 1. Before Elite did their restoration and new transfer, all video incarnations (and most film prints) of NOTLD looked and sounded like pan-fried poop. To have a little fun and show off a bit, they started the LD with a nasty transfer. A few seconds into it, the movie stopped and an explosion cleared the screen, revealing the THX Laser Disc logo. The movie restarted, and the beauty of the new transfer was finally revealed.

I am transfering the LD because I own it, and do not own the Millennium Edition DVD. I own the crapy version, so...it is cheaper for me to transfer the LD.

Just checked out Amazon and it appears that there really is no difference, except for what Darth Enzo pointed out.

Romero is the numero uno when it comes to zombies. I, for one, would love to see this once sega is done with it. Though something tells me that sooner or later Anchor Bay will obtain the rights to both Night and (eventually) Land... and we will get seventeen box sets over the span of about twenty years that will explore and re-explore all four films ad-nausium. Seriously... do those guys ever stop re-re-re-re-re-releasing a film once they get the rights to it?

OK, I'll shut up now and get ready to pick up my "Book of the Dead II" edition of Evil Dead II here in a week. Oh, and did you hear about the "Cabin Version" (or whatever they want to end up calling it) of the original Evil Dead that is coming out soon? It is going to include a special feature about the Ladies of Evil Dead that was filmed at the recent Flashback Horror Weekend in Chicago (which I attended). Kind of jazzed about that.

(Am I off topic enough yet?)

Anyway, sega... I look forward to your release. And thank you as always for all of your great work here.

Update to project, decided to include both the commentary tracks on the SL disc so that I can use it as a 'test' disc to make sure all is good before I make my dual - layer disc. Just need to re-encode the video tonight, then hopefully burn a test disc tomorrow.

I think I have most of the NOTLD DVD's, the old Elite, the 30th, the Millenium and that one that has an MST3k soundtrack. If it's just the commentary I would be glad to sync up the tracks to whatever transfer.
