Glad to hear, since I would be homeless otherwise.

Have to keep the bad humor going after all,

It's OK to mix it with good humour, though.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

True. Anyway, back to this subject of the changes for the '04 set. I am just trying to collect every alleged change we've heard that has not been proven false for sure. New Emperor head, different Jabba, fixed lightsabers, even IGN something about Han shoots first, though Digital Bits didn't pick up on it I think. Anything else you guys (and gals) have heard?

Here would be my guess

New emperor: definite
Anakin ghost: definite
New Jabba: most likely
Naboo in ROTJ end montage: most likely
some new music: most likely
better lightsabers: most likely
Cameo for Bail and Jar jar: possibly

Han shooting first: 50/50

Aparently Bill Hunt from DB was in the IGN forum and said the Han/Greedo scene is under discussion at the Ranch.
And I dance. And I sing.
And I'm a monkey, in a long line of kings.

All of which solidify my resolve to not buy the set.

Yes Bossk, it is considerate of GL to make the choice so easy for us isn't it?

And I think...

New emperor: uh... ok why not.
Anakin ghost: live mr Shaw alone
New Jabba: Ok, do it
Naboo in ROTK end montage: pointless, don't really care
some new music: hmn... nah.
better lightsabers: yes please
Cameo for Bail and Jar Jar: no, please, don't

isn't it clear by now that most people don'y like jar jar? what is GL expecting from this? hasn't he had enough bashing yet?? starting to think that this guy has masochistic tendencies...

Maybe he made us hate Jar Jar so we would accept that scene in which he gives Palpatine full powers. But then again, maybe not, maybe he thought people would love to see Jar Jar as a comic relieaf (gah cant spell). I wonder what the 1976 George Lucas would have thought of TPM.

I think he would've slapped 2004 GL around the head and said, "You STUPID old man! What the hell do you think you're doing to MY movie?"

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

I can picture that conversation:

"They never told you what happened to your films..."
"They told me enough! They told me you ruined them..."
"No. YOU ruined them!"
"No... that's not true... That's impossible!!!"

George Lucas from 1976 gets out of his time machine, and grabs 2004 George Lucas by the neck:

"Why, you, old fat bastard, what the hell have you done? Greedo is... shooting Han first?! That's not what I meant in that scene! And what the hell is this CGI Jabba, by the way? What is CGI, some sort of evil magic used to do special effects? Whatever happened to stop-motion animation?! And... what in God's name is that thing, Jar Jar Binks? Are you stoned or what? Why did you create that awful, anoying thing?"

"Well... my bank account has more than 1 billion dollars in it, if you know what I mean."

"Oh. So, uh, how about inserting Jar Jar on every scene of every movie you make, eh? Love that little fella."

On one hand I believe Lucas did bow to pressure by minimizing Jarjar's screentime in AOTC (in ep3 he has even less) but I think he made sure to put him in there so it wouldn't look like he was bowing to pressure.

And I think he's adamant about not killing Jarjar just out of spite. He knows a lot of people want to see it (not me, but a lot of people) and so he won't give them the satisfaction.

If he does stuff out of spite or only because he does not want to satisfy people then he's even a worse director than I thought. I don't say that he has to make what the fans want him to make but deciding to change something only because he knows that this will piss people off is equally wrong.

I think the meeting of the GL's would have been interesting, but we will never know. As for Jar Jar, I think the criticism of him has been overblown since the beginning. I think of him as a big dumb Ewok with ears, period. Did it make TPM more kid friendily? Sure, but I think the fact TPM is in an era of Star Wars history where things were the happiest and/or most peaceful before the Clone Wars and Empire, I therefore don't find it that bad. Just my two cents.

Exactly, plus there is so many good memories for watching the old movies and then the Special Edition and the prequals. I enjoyed it all, especially when I watched TPM alone without hearing any of the bit@@@ng about it and loved to watch it. Call me a Star Wars fanboy nut, but being I'm just trying to be honest.

Big news from the bits. Apparently Lucasfilm has now officially confirmed additional changes for these DVDs over the 1997 versions.

Officially, eh? Uh oh.

Tell me you weren't surprised; I know I wasn't.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Wasn't surprised at all. I basically took it offcial for a while. Now that its official we have more of these DVDs to look forward to.

Well some of us, "The truths we cling to depend greatly upon our own point of view." Now by the way, we are talking about fixing the Emperor's monkey head, the new Jabba, but anything else new. Runs over to Digital Bits thinking of Conan making fun of the tape on my glasses.

EDIT: I see now. I read that on the offical site and thought nothing of it, but when I read it on the Bits it finally dawned on me that they said "today" instead of saying that Special Editions are the final versions or something. Very cool and disappointing at the same time.
