With all the changes to the OT, how come Lucas never fixed the Speeder scenes in ROTJ?

I love the idea of cleaning up the movies, fixing composition shots but the Speeder scene in ROTJ sticks out like a sore thumb. The lighting is way off & it is the only issue i had with the movie even before the special editions.

Has anyone personally tried to clean up the speeder shots/

It’s a shame this thread hasn’t got replies yet, it’s an interesting question. SE changes are mostly colour grading and added effects shots or things; perhaps fixing lighting problems is a whole other feat. Personally, I’m glad the speeder chase hasn’t been tampered with, because I much prefer movies being true products of their time, and I enjoy the action no matter how the effects have aged.

I totally agree. i am content with it being the way it was originally, it was just a question that has always been on my mind seeing as George likes to tamper with things.

Considering the all changes they did to the snow speeder effects from Hoth, I’m surprised these weren’t changed too.

Except for Jedi Rocks and the Sarlacc Beak, almost none of Jedi was touched in 1997. A couple of recomposites, no new wipes, nothing like the amount of work they put into ANH and ESB. However in 2004 they recomposited the Rancor, so I would assume either Lucas is fine with the way the speeder chase looks or just didn’t want to spend the money.
