Watchmen: Midnight (Released)

Hi everyone, I’ve made an edit of WATCHMEN that tries to recapture some of the spirit, story structure, and character depth of the original comic books by reorganizing/trimming scenes, adding new content from the “Under the Hood” documentary, replacing music to change the tone of various scenes, as well as cutting out silly stunts and other material that did not fit the tone of the original comics.

As a fan of the comics, I don’t think a WATCHMEN movie could (or should) ever be a 1:1 copy of the source material. My intention here was to make this a more engrossing movie.

I watched this. You definitely did a great job on it. The new soundtrack works fantastically in my opinion. Also, your cutting helped the story flow more. As a non-Watchmen Graphic Novel fan, I found the "Under the Hood" segments very helpful. Thank you for making this gem!

Thanks :) I'm glad you enjoyed it. If you aren't a fan of the graphic novel/comics yet, I definitely recommend you check them out!

Much Congratulation! I did love this edit. Watching it more and more, it grows on you. The new score is pretty fantastic. The edits are also quite good, making the movie much better than it was.

Has anyone tried to use movies like Cloverfield etc to build the missing 'alien squid' subplot.

It seemed odd to me to so slavishly copy all the rest of the book (in the original cut) and then leave that out when it was largely the point of the piece.

Artificially generated terror becoming the benevolent tyrant.

I am surprised nobody tried to do the giant alien squid either!

I thought Monsters (Gareth Edwards) might work?

Sounds good this edit.

I just finished watching this edit. One of the best, most professionally presented edits that I have ever had the pleasure to watch, and awesome job. I love the original graphic novel and used to read it once a year; what an improvement over the theatrical release, thanks for the hard work. If it is possible, I would like to ask why the deletion of the prison break scene? Perhaps it was cut to save time?

Hi! I found your website on this and downloaded the files from mega. It looks like they have to be ripped to a DVD? Is there any way to just watch it on a computer? I lack a DVD burner.

Have you tried VLC?

I have and it works! It is difficult out which files to keep, though.
