I’ll try to improve the close-up shots of the saber in part 2 tomorrow.
And unfortunately, I don’t have the original material of the movie on my computer, that’s why I’m working with Hal’s version. But that shouldn’t be a problem, I can provide the After Effect files of each shot, then replacing the video with the original shot of the movie would be the only work needed.
This is fantastic, keep up the good work.
Because I might as well keep being the bearer of constructive notes, one thing I noticed in this clip is you often see sparks floating away from Kylo Ren’s saber. I wouldn’t say it’s crucial, but one thing that would sell the effect would be some similar, well placed sparks shots for Rey’s saber (certainly doesn’t need to be every shot). You’ll notice shots like the one at :21 here and the one after, there’s some sparks just while he’s walking and while the saber is being held by the force.
It’s a different effect than what you’re doing, so I don’t know if it’s in your wheelhouse, or something someone else could pick up, but it’s worth making note of and considering.
