Pretty Woman, The Shawshank Redemption, Quantum of Solace, The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, Philadelphia… What do all of these films have in common? Opera. Each of these have some of their most memorable scenes set at the opera or featuring operatic music.

We’ve teamed up with video essayist, Lewis Bond of the YouTube channel ‘Channel Criswell’, to look at how the use of opera creates some of film’s most unforgettable stories.
