I see your point, although I wasn't advocating Nero as much as just trying something other than DVD Decrypter if its not giving you any joy.

Trawling the forum at videohelp.com I saw mention of RecordNOW as being able to control layer change. Don't know if it'll help, but here's the thread: DVD+R9 Double Layer first burn: problems with layer switch
