Personally I’m really happy to see what’s clearly meant to be the early signs that lead to Snoke and the First Order. Just what we’ve seen so far has already offered a much needed & satisfying bridge between the end of RotJ & the conflict in the Sequel Trilogy that has puzzled us since 2015. We’re seeing first hand the “ashes of the Empire” from which the First Order rose, and we’re seeing the early attempts to create disfigured, force sensitive beings, so we can finally put two and two together.

The series won’t shift it’s focus to become a lead up to the Sequel Trilogy, it’s still the story of Din & the child first and foremost, but it fits to show things that relate to the Sequel Trilogy, just as much as the constant nods to stuff from the Original Trilogy, the Prequels, the shows etc. I would say it fits even more, considering the period the series takes place in.
