Forgot to chime in - I watched this over the weekend and it was fantastic! I didn’t loathe the theatrical cut, but I didn’t think it was very good - this at least gives the film some degree of dignity back.

If the theatrical cut was a dumb-as-rocks mid-90s EU novel put to film, this is a reasonably adequate mid-90s EU novel put to film. And I’m okay with that.

Still hope the crackly saber thing can be implemented in the future, and I’m still interested to check out a Rey Nobody cut, but for now, this works for me as my “canon” replacement. My only complaint is that I really didn’t like any of the new Knights of Ren dialogue, they all felt out of place and “fanfiction”-y, but they were used sparingly enough that I can overlook it (or if I really want to someday, I can always customize the audio track myself to remove the lines).
