Idea & Help Wanted: for a 'The Bear Who Slept Through Christmas' (1973) edit

Has anyone here ever seen this little gem - The Bear Who Slept Through Christmas? It has been released on VHS but not DVD. The VHS version is cut. I have an old off-air tape (circa 1985) that has a scene where Ted goes into a church in the city and also a seen where his friend sings a quick tune called “Bear Necessities” as he walks to the airport. I would like to try to create a complete cut utilizing the “better” video quality of the commercial VHS release and integrate those 2 additional scenes (obviously of lower quality). Has anyone on this forum seen this before? If so, does anyone have access to decent quality versions of those two scenes that are missing from the commercial VHS release? This was one of my favorites as a kid (still love it) and I really want to create a decent version with all the scenes intact.

Thanks!

Zack

I have seen the deleated church scene, it was my favorite scene and this was my favorite Christmas movie. I only wish I had a copy for you to do your project with. My mom recorded the movie on VHS from TV but that copy of it, even if it could be found, would be in pretty poor condition. If you ever find what you are looking for to finish this project, I would love to obtain a copy of it from you. Best Wishes.

I know this is an old post but wanted to update. I did find my mom’s old VHS tape. She had taped it back in like 1984/85 on a tape full of Christmas specials she had made for us when we were kids. It is in pretty bad shape but I ripped it (no professional equipment). I’ll get it uploaded soon if interested.

I still wish I could find a decent quality copy of these scenes at least in order to incorporate into an edit or something like that. Regardless, at least I found this “extended version” - albeit in pretty bad quality.

ZachR, Wow that’s awesome! I kind of forgot about this thread and my comment to you, but even after all these years I would still like a copy. It was my favorite movie/scene. If you’re still interested in sending me one I would definitely love that.
