I see your point, I just call the movie “Star Wars” and I guess it does sometimes cause confusion. I definitely agree with you that that would be clunky.

I guess I’m more accepting of referring to it as Episode 4 (even though it never actually called itself that) because the original version of Empire did refer to itself as episode 5.

I never cared for the subtitle A New Hope, that might be why it bothers me.

Star Trek makes a ton of sense to me, because there are so many movies and series, and even a movie that is simply called “Star Trek”, so you really do need to further specify. With Star Wars there are only 3 movies… no matter what George Lucas wants you to believe.
