As bad as that sequence is… the point of it is to reinforce Poe’s recklessness.

It’s not necessary though, that same recklessness can be inferred from him smashing through the ice and the general damage to the falcon on his return to base.

You don’t need another universe breaking use of light speed in the mix.

Agreed. Plus the TIES actively tracking the falcon and able to PERFECTLY predict each stop and go to/from hyper speed, from Poe randomly making those choices went beyond being beyond too far.
