Greetings …
I happened across one of this group’s fan-edits a few weeks (THE ABYSS) and thoroughly enjoyed it. I always felt it was one Cameron’s overlooked films, and it was the cleanest extended editions I’ve seen so far. I’ve been a film nut for decades, pre-VHS days, and the thought of owning an actual film I loved was completely intoxication … though, at the time, I had no idea it was the death-knell of I the small theaters I frequented in the 70’s. Over the decades, I’ve amassed quite a collection of films on multiple formats (CED,LD,DVD, BluRay … then evenentually, digital downloads … with the occasional VHS thrown in if it’s one-of-a-kind, as I never really embraced the format as I dislike pan-and-scan with a passion).
I pretty much “old-school”, so I haven’t a big fan of 4K,as I think most presentations are very un-filmlike. So here I am, hoping to read about the projects. Not a huge Star Wars fan, so I’ll probably be digging around the alternate project more. BTW,I haven’t watched it ages as my play needs another stylus, but I recall the original CED of Star Wars didn’t have the “New Hope” in the opening. Just to make “peace” with any fanatics, I did see Star Wars on a huge screen about 2 months after it’s release in theaters back in '76 … I went back about 12 times following that (but honestly … I was very high during the 70’s). Still prefer ZARDOZ.
