Heres my idea that would change both the originals and the sequels- DON’T KILL OFF DARTH VADER in Return of the Jedi. 😮 He would still throw the emperor down the shaft and turn good, but he doesn’t take his mask off. Then have him appear in the SEQUELS using other james earl jones dialogue and other footage. Then finally in Episode 9 he would kill the Emperor again and Luke (who would also have to survive, unless we can somehow make it Ben there too) takes his mask off. That way the prophecy thing is kept, Anakin has years to be redeemed, and Sebastian Shaw would then be the right age to play Anakin as an old man. I don’t know maybe this is too much, i was thinking about doing this in my 3 in one but i also don’t want to ruin Reys arc and Lukes arc. What would be so nice and beautiful would be Rey, Ben, Leia, Luke and Anakin, the whole skywalker family all against Palpatine and all not as ghosts but alive, but I don’t know if this is possible.
A bit of a late quote - I did think the ST would have worked better if Anakin had been redeemed by Luke’s death in ROTJ - and had then gone to live in exile. With no Jedi to guide him Ben Solo becomes Kylo Ren (who idolises the image of Vader) - and the wayward force sensitive turns to the long lost Jedi Anakin Skywalker for training.
Learning the truth of Anakin’s redemption would seed doubt in Kylo Ren who ultimately is himself redeemed.
