It just makes zero sense, man. Of course the only explanation, that doesn’t require you to bend over backwards to explain it, is that her parents were selfish people who did not care about her safety.EDIT: Sorry, not trying to start a debate. Just a thought.
Honestly, I think it thematically makes WAY more sense if Rey’s parents were still just selfish people. That way she has to break the cycle of abuse the same way she has to break the cycle of Sith succession.
