Have you guys seen the R2 Japanese "Ultimate Edition" Terminator release? It's a 2 disc set and the film has a truly amazing DTS track, which I always prefer over DD 5.1. Fox Japan has put others in the series with exclusive DTS tracks, such as Ronin.

no i dont buy japanese movies unless there anime but they have dubs

damn...
if we get the Terminator in DTS anytime soon im gonna be f'ing pissed...
lol
this always happens to me...
ALWAYS!!

does anyone else get this same frustration when you buy a dvd and shorly after they release a new edition of it which is actually worth buying it over again...

it happened with A Christmas Story, Trainspotting and X-Men with me...
i thought i was gonna be ticked when they released Saving Private Ryan..
but i prefer my DTS bare bones edition better than the 60th anniversary one anyway...

It's not a Japanese movie, it's the 1984 Terminator Japanese release, R2. It's basically the same as the R1 Special Edition except it's 2 discs to accomodate the DTS track and has removeable Japanese subtitles. Kind of expensive (about $40) but a must have if you like DTS. It's hard to believe how well they can remix old mono source material these days!

I bought the Terminator SE when it first came out and paid under $20 for it. I appreciated the fact that MGM included the original mono track on the release, plus it came with nifty holographic cover art.

Again Luke we agree. From what I hear widescreen version sales are still higher then fullscreen sales. With good reason. People who only want half the movie are well idiots

I've met one of those idiots. One of the guys I worked with at CVS was buying the fullscreen version of T3 and I told him that you can see more of the picture in a widescreen version than in a fullscreen. He's like, "What are you talking about, the picture is smaller." Of course when your talking about a film shot on super 35, the fullscreen gives you more of the shot horizontally and the widescreen version vertically. In most cases though, you lose a good 35 percent of your image in a fullscreen version of a movie.

Terminator 3 was the only movie I ever bought a fullscreen DVD over a widescreen one. Fullscreen is better for that movie. There are exceptions to every rule. Click Here. Still Widescreen is definutly best for the first movie. I also think I speak for everyone in saying I never want to see a fullscreen Star Wars movie again.

T3 sucked for the following reasons:

(1) No Jim Cameron

(2) it was missing the most integral parts of the first 2 previous movies- T1 being essentially a love story between Sarah and Reese, and T2 the love of Sarah for John, and more importantly the idea of man vs machine. None of this was in T3. It had no 'heart' I guess, just an empty shell of a movie with 2 returning actors and some newer digital effects thrown in for the sake of it.

(3) No Terminator theme! That theme song is one of the most memorable parts of the first 2 films.

(4) The T-X. Give me a break. What a gimmic, the purpose of this was to get 12 year old boys into the theatre to check out her t*ts. "Thanks for the $$$ boys, enjoy the film".

(5) A boring as hell script.

T4 will suck for pretty much all of the above. There's my 2 cents.

Jim Cameron refused to participate. He stated in an interview he likes Terminator 3 and hated Alien 3. Whats wrong with some tits. The T-X makes sense. Most of her targets are young men who would be drawn to such a form. God those tits were fine (you can only see them in the fullscreen version). Problem with both sequels is Arnold never kills anyone. Hes the friggin Terminator reprogramed or not he needs to Terminate. I never liked Terminator 2 Arnold. He was too emotional and said some horrendus dialog even Arnold can't make sound cool. "Why do you cry" or worse "I need a vacation". In Terminator 3 he was still the good guy but was less emotional and was always in charge not taking orders from some damn little brat. He felt more like a machine and I greatly prefered his preformance. He will always be best as the bad guy. As the bad guy he was the best villian of all time. I do agree about the score. Thats probably the only thing I prefered the second movie at. Also Terminator 3s best moment (yes even better thne the T-Xs entrance) was the ending. It was so tragic, so emotional, so well done.

Now I know you like winding people up on this site Jimbo, you've just confirmed it with that statement about the ending of T3. How was it emotional? How was it well done? It was absolutely, f***ing shocking, a complete set up for T4.

You make me laugh you annoying little bastard.......

The ending was geneous you annoying little fucker. It was very well done. Certainly alot better then Terminator 2s retarded lowering into the lava. Thats the stupidest ending. If I were John I would have dismantled him and examined him for weaknesses to prepare for the days I would have to fight them. Anything was better then lowering it into the level. Arnolds death scene in Terminator 3 made much more sense. Plus the line "You are Terminated" was very cool as was the T-Xs not me look. She just don't look so pretty without her skin.

im sorry jimbo this is where i disagree with you...

the ending for T2 was one of the best...
i dont see how it sucked...
you didnt even give a reason...

2 are you sure u didnt like T3 just cuz of tits jimbo?
cuz you seem to bring her up in every post of T3?

The funny thing is the screenshot shows that the horizontal resolution has increased in the widescreen version.

Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here, this is the war room!
