Recently, I finally cut together an edit of ‘AOTC’ I finally feel is watchable.
You read my title right, I moved ‘AOTC’ over to Episode 1 in the Prequel Trilogy!
First, I started with the edit by HAL9000 as a foundation and made adjustments from there.
Toward the beginning, there were several scenes that I felt continue for longer than necessary.
For instance, after the bombing on the landing platform, I made sure we see Padme’s reaction and then wipe to the next scene.
Also, I played with a clever gimmick where I used a scene’s establishing shot to reveal a snippet of dialog, and then swiftly cut to the meat of the scene, while seamlessly continuing said dialog.
During the montage of Anakin searching for Shmi, I realized I felt awkward about the placement of the shots. I ended up with the following:
- Anakin speeding through canyons.
- Anakin receiving directions from Jawa in front of Sandcrawler.
- Anakin flying past rock formations with more intensity.
This time, I also used music by Two Steps from Hell, specifically the instrumental version of the song “Victory.”
Let’s see, what else? Oh, yeah.
Also, I inserted a mid-credit scene.
During the Battle of Christophsis, we see Anakin receiving his own Jedi apprentice, even though he’s always been against having his own. Ahsoka insists her instructions from Yoda were specific, and Anakin is baffled.
Cut back to credits.
That is teasing my in-between-quel, Episode 2: Labyrinth of Evil.
Also, I implemented a custom text crawl with a light blue hue.
