Yeah. I had avoided getting the official extended discs of SS and CoS since I thought they were the same crappy ABC edits.
On the advice of people here I got them and they are indeed more professional than what ABC/Disney cobbled together.

I think I took issue with a couple of music cues and the fact that in Chamber… they didn’t fix the overdub of Hermione, at dinner, telling Ron and Harry to put on Crabbe and Goyle’s robes.

The overdub was added to the theatrical cut to explain the Slytherin robes they wear later. Hermione saying she got the robes for them from the laundry is a deleted scene. Both shouldn’t be in the same cut of the film.

Huh, didnt know that. Well now Im gonna think of Hermiones overdub (like Lukes if he even exists on Dagobah) whenever I watch CoS now lol, cool piece of trivia

Which line is overdubbed?

My bad idk if you’re talking about the Harry Potter one or the star wars one so I’ll just explain both.

In Chamber of Secrets when Hermione tells Harry and Ron to pluck hairs from Crabbe and Goyle at dinner it cuts to a reaction shot of Harry and Ron looking at eachother and you hear Hermione say “and you’ll need their robes” (or something to that effect. If my understanding of the post is correct Emma Watson never said this line when filming the scene and they had her record it and put it in later.

In Empire Strikes Back when Luke is setting up his camp on Dagobah and plugging in R2 into the power generator, he says “Now all I have to do is find this Yoda…if he even exists”. The line originally ended at “Yoda” when filming and they had Mark Hamil record the “if he even exists” part after. Unlike the CoS add in you dont see Hermione’s face when she says it so you wouldn’t be able to tell (at least I didn’t) unless you had prior knowledge. In ESB Luke’s mouth is open but not moving (enough to say the line) when the line is added in, so it kind of gives off a ventriloquist vibe (I forget what youtuber I heard make that comparison, probably HelloGreedo if I had to guess based on my watch history). In the DVD they tried to make Luke’s mouth move but you can still tell. Theres a little blurb on it on the ESB IMDB in the category “goofs” under “Audio/visual unsynchronized” if you want to read more, but that’s pretty much the gist of it.

I didn’t know about the ADR line from Chamber of Secrets, but I already knew about the one from The Empire Strikes Back. I’m a bit confused that they kept that line in the extended edition, considering that Harry and Ron didn’t put on Crabbe and Goyle’s robes, and Hermione snuck out Slytherin robes from the laundry for them to wear.
