Alright Hal. Here’s my first draft. Is this kind of what you are hoping for? I need to work on a mask for the cityscape. It has a weird perspective shift that is going to take some time to create a convincing mask for. Anyway, hope you enjoy draft one.

Thanks! Coming from you that makes me feel like I accomplished something here 😃 Did you want just the beginning or a whole edit length version?

Well hey I’d welcome either one. I assumed you were planning to release a whole edit that way as a variant, but if only would have to put out that as a clip on its own I’d happily join it up and have a homebrewed modified copy of the edit.

My stance on revising fan edits.

Looks great DigMod…will you be doing the same for Rouge One?

Also, I would love this edit to bring back 2 things from the original cut:

  1. The shot of Han being thrown up in the air after he is told he will be “flying in no time” by the Imperial officer.
  2. The machine gunner in the trenches that is killed on the planet Mimban. The main reason the crew come back for Han and Chewie is there missing the “muscle” for the heist job because of the machine gunners death so not sure why it was removed from the edit.

Cheers,

I’ll probably do a whole new version with that opening.

Thanks for your thoughts stevepaynter. You make a good point about the muscle. I had originally cut his death as it just felt odd to not even know these characters and then to have such an emotional scene when he dies. The tone of the film at that point just didn’t fit for me. I’ll mull it around in my melon to see if my mind changes though. The shot of him flying through the air is comical yes, but that was a scene that I needed to utilize a wipe transition to show time passing and to get a wipe transition in. That was one of my main goals of the edit, to add those little features that make movies feel like Star Wars. The shower scene also was cut for the same reason.

Hi guys, I like those new improvements 😃

Allow me to insist on this: somebody PLEASE provide subtitles for this one. If I’m not wrong I have subs for all other Star Wars fanedits by Hal9000 and DigMod. Only this one hasn’t them, so I can’t watch it properly.

For me and all other people on Earth who don’t have english as native language, this would be a much more important improvement than any reworked beginning, beautiful as it may be.

DigMod, I hope you’ll consider it, because I can’t wait to really enjoy TCH. Thanks in advance! 😃

I didn’t realise this had been completed, is there any way i can view it?

I love your edit, but I have problems making a BluRay out of it. The Audio is not recognized in TSMuxer. When I try to extract it in Handbrake it sounds weird. Anyone has made a blu ray and had success?

JakeRyan17, my website has a request form.

Aroki, can you share a shot of your mediainfo on the file to see what’s happening?

Hmm, dont know which media-info you mean, I open the Mp4 with tsMuxeR 2.6.12. Then I get this error: “Some tracks not recognized. This tracks was ignored…”.
I now see only the Video track. No audio track. I have the original mp4 and didnt change anything.

In some ways I prefer ‘Mediainfo Lite’.

THANK YOU 😃
Thats what MediaInfo Lite says about it:

Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 512 kb/s

I managed to encode it via VidCoder. Now its possible to Mux it with sound. The original Mp4 still doesn’t work. But at least I can make a blu ray now 😉

NO you can’t make a blu ray with AAC audio. That is NOT within BD spec. You need to convert it to another format. I recommend AC3 audio. You can use TFM audio tool or xvid4psp for that. Google is your friend…

You definitely should post your video mediainfo as well as audio. I can tell you if it’s BD compatible. For starters it has to be exactly 1920x1080 or 1280x720 if DigMod’s project is only 1080p or 720p.

Just curious if you ever finished creating that new version with the alternate opening? If so, I’m interested in it for sure.
