Jonh! Good to hear from you. I agree its a good start, but his head seems like it was smooshed onto his body like play-doh, like his head and neck don’t mesh.

Here’s another version of the extra lever shot. I extended Chewie’s grown, which hopefully works, and used a different piece of buffer audio from earlier in the scene that doesn’t have the wind that was causing issues.

For the extra lever shot Hal, It’s nice having a bit of Chewie grown in it, which help connect it well. Very nice.

Hello!!! how are you?
I am looking forward to seeing the progress you have made !! 😃
sorry for taking so long to get back, it has been a summer full of work …
here I have the final shot of luke, leia and ben;)

Amazing work as always jonh! The ghost fade-in and overall effect is truly seamless and matches perfectly with Luke and Leia.

Apologies if this has already been discussed in the earlier pages of the thread - but as an idea to further differentiate Ben’s body from the easily identifiable Luke farmboy outfit, how feasible would it be to give Ben a brown Jedi outer robe (cape?) similar to the one that he wears in the recently released canon comics? (example: https://imgur.com/a/8t1qwvp).

Obviously for a n00b like me this is all far easier said than done, so if it’s too intensive of a task then that’s more than understandable - but I thought I would at least add my tiny, almost nit-picky suggestion to the discussion all the same.

Again, incredible work jonh!

So after multiple trials of adding Vader’s castle to that one shot of Kylo on Mustafar after making the offer to do so, I ultimately came out unsuccessful. “Sad” I had only just purchased After Effects and was too new to the process of camera and point tracking to pull it off convincingly. It also didn’t help that there’s little to no detail in the background of that shot to lock onto so it was pretty stupid of me to begin with to think I could do it. Lol. 😐

My main takeaway from this workprint, other than being better than the theatrical… Is there any way to extend the moment of Kylo dying? because it’s dead…explosions…Rey in the ship to escape. There isn’t a moment to breathe or allow Rey to look like she cares.

I’m certain the theatrical cut was the same way, but I know somebody did attempt this a while back by extending a reversed shot with some CGI trickery, it was brief but it worked. I saw it many pages back so do forgive me for not finding that comment. Could that be implemented?

May the Force be with you, always.

All good! No need to apologise. If people still believe it’s worth attempting then someone more skilled than me can try it out. 👍

+1 to being interested in seeing the castle 😃

Here’s a reference image I put together to show Kylo’s flowing hair and adjusted lighting to match Luke and Leia.

That’s very well done! I would suggest though to use footage of him smiling since here he looks a little blue… (Pun intended!)

It might also be nice if we could have his robes recoloured to perhaps a light tan? 🤔

If Kylo’s farmboy body could put his arms to his sides it would be less recognizable as not his body

After being beaten and battered by prequel hate, I promise not to be that to the next generation.

I think the white robes are most fitting as they are the last robes he wears before becoming Kylo Ren / falling to darkside, he was wearing the white robes when he turned against Luke.

Hal, I like the addition of the lever and Chewbacca’s growl. Great job of extending the scenes a little longer. Jonh glad to see you are back and working on the addition of Ben Solo at the end. I agree with fellow posters that his face seems a little too transparent and his movement a little stiff, but nice first attempt. I know you’ll perfect it. If someone could still give Vader’s castle on Mustafar a try I’d be ecstatic.

That looks fantastic. If I were to nitpick endlessly, I’d suggest the tracking is not quite perfect - he jitters up and down relative to Luke and Leia very slightly - but I know that’s a pain to fix. Also, in a perfect world it’d be nice to slightly reframe the shot, since Ben is all the way on the left, though I wouldn’t even know where to start with making an extended background and tracking it in. But the robe change really covers up where you’ve gotten it from and it fits him well, and the face/hair looks right to me. You’re really doing a lot of great work for this movie (even if redditors don’t credit you for it!).

The new addition of the robe is near-perfect!

JEDIT: One further tiny critique/nitpick I would add is that (to my eye at least) Ben is currently just a touch oversized in both his height and width when compared to the scale set by the pre-existing Luke and Leia ghosts.

Obviously Ben is always going to be the tallest of the 3 ghosts, no question, but if he could just be shrunk down a tiny bit more so that he’s proportional to the scale of the other 2 (it’s already really close, it took me another viewing to properly catch!) then I think this shot - with the incorporation of the other tweaks mentioned below - will be as close to perfect as we could ever possibly imagine.

I hope when this inevitably goes as viral as your other scene did that you actually get all of the credit that you so rightfully deserve!

The hair… wow, that looks so good and seamless. As if there was any doubt with your work!

However, I do have to nitpick as well. There is something a little bit off about the brown cloak. On the left side, it’s almost… slanted too much? It almost looks like it’s floating on him. Maybe there needs to be some more shadow on the white robe to blend it in better? Something like that.

(Not trying to start a hate swarm, it looks really good regardless.)

Can we fit an Anakin ghost in the shot? And a Yoda ghost? And a Qui-Gon ghost? A Han ghost too?

Kidding. I love this addition, and V2 is great as a final for me. Robe and hair don’t look any iffier than Leia to my eye, although there is maybe one moment of judder with Ben, from the match move tracking on the push in. Stunning work, jonh !!

Incredible work jonh! I agree that Ben is too large but that’s the only possible issue I see

Could we possibly have Ben tilt his head somewhat or some other kind of subtle movement? Leia and Luke seem more fluid and move slightly, whereas Ben seems kind of wooden. I still love what you’ve done with the face, hair and robe though! 😃

he tried to do it but it is not realistic, I’m going to upload a v3 with hair movement and robes
