Possible reasons for not releasing the unaltered versions:
- contractual obligation with Lucas
- respect for George’s wishes
- a proper restoration of the unaltered scenes isn’t possible
- Disney/Lucasfilm just doesn’t care about the unaltered versions
When will we see an official release of the unaltered versions?
- whenever Disney/Lucasfilm wants to cash-in on an updated release
