Hey everybody!

I’ve been here at OT for a few months now, but I guess it’s finally time to introduce myself. Everyone online calls me Nexol, and I’m tempted to see what truth be told I was brought here by the same thing that I’m sure drew a lot of others here as well: Harmy’s Despecialized Editions. I sought out these fan preservations because the scholar in me wanted to be able to appreciate something as close to the original theatrical releases of the films as possible. However, in the months that have passed, I’ve silently browsed around and found that there’s so much more to the website than simply being a dedicated forum: it’s a home for Star Wars fans from all walks of life.

Being a 90’s kid, I grew up watching both the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy as part of my childhood. My brother and I have a love and appreciation for the prequels, both because and despite the rather controversial elements (I loved Jar Jar when I was a kid and I still do, no matter how obnoxious he may be for some). I remember seeing both Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith in theaters with my family, and it was amazing seeing what I would later come to know as a Shakespearean tragedy unfold before my eyes.

That being said, while I had seen the original trilogy when I was younger, my family only owned it on VHS, so by the time out VCR stopped working around 2007-2009, it was a long time before I was able to actually sit down and watch the original trilogy again (don’t ask me why, but my parents never went out and bought the OT again). So, for the majority of my young adulthood, Star Wars (for me, anyway) was the prequel trilogy. They were the only ones that I could sit down and watch with my family at any given time, so I was able to come to a long-term understanding of the tragedy that plagues the character of Anakin Skywalker. I know I’m not all that special in this regard, but I figured it would be best to give my exposition dump of a backstory here of all places.
