Um, anyway, today marks a red letter day in the history of the NFL.

The greatest wide receiver of all time (the G.O.A.T.) officially retired today. Jerry Rice held a press conference from Broncos headquarters and announced his retirement. Faced with the realization that he would be the 4th or 5th string receiver and probably wouldn't suit up for every game, Rice decided to call it quits. It was probably for the best.

Jerry Rice holds nearly every record there is for a wide receiver. His career numbers for receptions, touchdowns, and yards will never be broken. He's so far ahead of any other player in those categories it's not even funny.

Looking back, I really hated how he and Joe Montana completely embarassed the Broncos back in Superbowl XXIV in 1990, which stands as the darkest moment in Bronco history. But it was almost ironic seeing him retire as a Bronco, and I can't help but be a fan of the guy and feel a bit nostalgic as I look back at what was probably the greatest career of anyone to ever play the game.
