Always found it weird Lucas did NOT do anything like that with Anakin when introducing him. Having the most mythological important character’s first visual appearance walking around a shop seems so mundane.
Luke’s first appearance was pretty mundane too. I think it was intentional in both cases, to show that greatness comes from humble origins.
No, sorry if it my meaning wasn’t clear. I didn’t mean storyline wise. I meant imagery and theme wise, which are Lucas’ talents.
There was no “boom boy” scene for young Anakin. Like having him stare up at the twin suns, an extremely fitting and appropriate parallel to Luke’s iconic scene, yearning for more. Luke has a lot of iconic imagery associated with him; everyone knows the Binary Sun theme by heart and seeing him stare up into space. There was nothing like that with kid Anakin in Phantom.
Part of the problem of the prequels was that Anakin wasn’t that relatable as an archetype. For a “hero’s fall” to be emotionally resonant, he has to actually be a likeable hero.
