Disney Star Wars canon can be described as Swiss cheese.
The old EU/Legends was far worse… I think everyone at Lucasfilm treats the rules of canon similar to before the Disney buyout: if it happened in the films or Lucasfilm TV, that is priority over publishing, etc.
