"There are major legal issues of a Donner Superman 2 cut, because to do it, they would have to remove ALL footage he did not shoot. The DGA does not allow for their to be two directors on a film."

But most of the material in SII was shot by Donner. How, then, was the current version allowed?

Hi,

I also have the Making of Superman I, II & III.

I have been doing a personal restoration of the complete "Salkind International Extended Cut" (3 hour-8 minute version) which was shown on KCOP Los Angeles.

It's being made from two 2nd generation copys from diffrent sorces using Adobe Premiere Pro.

the Theatrical Cut of Superman I was released a few years ago in Denmark when Studio Canal had some foreign rights on the movie. the DVD is anarmorphic. I think I will finaly buy it the near future.

^Interesting to note, the two pictures on the left come from Superman III.

Also, I am a HUGE Superman fan and would love to get ahold of any extended cuts and behind the scenes material that's available. I know the Superman II: RIC is a 2-disc collection of both, but are there similar fan sets for the KCOP Superman I and TV Superman III with respective bonus material? If not, someone should get on that; I'd order all three from whoever might be willing to put something along those lines together, and I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one. Maybe somone's already done this and I just over looked it; if so, please let me know!

I have the 2 disc set for the first movie.

I also have 1 disc versions each of the "making of" specials. I will be torrenting those soon. The quality is better than what I've seen on the Superman 2 disc, at least.

If someone could PM me about acquiring the complete RIC 2-Disc set with all the extras, that would be wonderful.

To complete the Extended Superman Trilogy or whatever you want to call it, a collection along these lines would be excellent if somone could make it possible:

Superman: The Movie - KCOP TV Version
Bonus Material (Trailers/The Making of Superman: The Movie)

Superman III - Extended TV Version
Bonus Material (Trailers/The Making of Superman III)

Sadly I don't think there's anything to expand on Superman IV as of yet. The popular stance is that all the lost footage was destroyed, but I've also heard evidence to the contrary. We'll just have to hope for an anthology set like Batman's to be released next year after Superman Returns. The odds are low for a restoration of IV, but it would be an absolute crime not to do a special edition for II. It's exactly the kind of movie the DVD format was made for.

I know both Superman 1 and 2 are both 2 disc sets. maybe the same should be done for 3? It's very long for a 1 disc set.

This is true, IF I had the VHS I'd transfer it and go DL but like I said I did not capture these I just authored em'

Ritker, I may have a better version of Superman III and possibly II. I'll have to check my copies at home tonight. If so, I'll send you my master tapes. All I'd like in return is a copy of these on DVD when you're done.

BTW, I LOVE your menus, they're awesome!!!

I have many other "extended" versions of movies if interested. For some reason, I can't capture many of them due to some weird tracking problem.

It's from the UK, but obviously not an "official" release, since only Region 1 US Supes IV was released there on DVD (I believe). Nice cover art, though. I think that's the first time I've seen a DVD copy of this anywhere for sale.

Anyway, those menus posted do look sweet. I wonder if there *will* be a box set a la Batman to coincide with the new Superman next year?

According to the director of the new Superman movie during a special screening of the trailer he said they would only use Brando's voice (from some sound files left out from the original movie), i.e no footage. So, it will be like Brando's ghost appearing in the movie
