I have always wondered what it was like to have two teams in your city (in the same sport). Philly once had had two baseball teams(The A's) but that was way before my time.

It's kinda cool to have two teams to choose from especially since Cubs games are so damned expensive to go to. Sox games are much cheaper. However, the thing I don't like is the polarization of people that results from having two teams. I'd rather see unified support for one team. If you want more baseball than just one team, go see the minor league teams in the area. We've got a couple of good ones (Kane County Cougars who are single A for the A's and the Schaumburg Flyers but I have no idea who they are minor league for). The Cougars actually play four miles from where I live. A couple years ago, the Cougars were minor league for the Marlins. There was a big billboard outside Elfstrom Stadium where the Cougars play after last year's World Series that had a bunch of the Marlins on it including Pierre and a few others saying "They All Got Their Start Here." Pretty cool even though that same bunch beat our home pro team in the NLCS.

I bet it must be cool when the two teams play each though. Bet it would be real cool if they played each other in a world series. That happened once, didn't it? I have often wondered how the passionate fans of philly would react to having two teams in the city. My guess is there would be deep separation/hate and when they played each other there would be wars in the stands. Can you imagine what it must have been like in New York had not two, but three teams?

p.s. just out of curiosity who will you cheer for in the games btw the Phils and the White Sox. Or will you be neutral?

I'd probably root CWS just out of Chicago loyalty. But, I will tell you that I will root for the Phils against most other teams. Most. I am a Twins fan and I like to root for the Cards and the D-Backs. But, anytime you play the Braves, contact me and we'll cheer together. I hate the Braves. Officially, you can say that my favorite teams are the Cubs and whoever is playing the Braves.

Not that it will mean much in your postseason

Sorry, had to rub that one in, too.

Oh yeah, and sorry about Milton's no hitter. Must've been a pisser to see it all go to hell in the 9th.

Oh my, I have yet to check the BB standings in over a month....let me do that now.

Interesting, the Cubs & Phillies are doing exactly the same...lol. The Sox have 2 more wins currently though. WHOOOHOOOO!!

And I see the Cardinals are doing good as well, nearly the same record as the *shudders* Yanks.
I just hate stupid people.

GO JETS!!!!

Count your blessings. We all know how Philly teams of any sport fare towards the end of the season.

Yankees and Sox can prevent us from winning a world series but they can't stop us from getting to one. And neither will the Cubs

But weren't you the one crying a few months ago about how all your beloved Philly sports teams choke in the postseason? You were even whining about how badly your Phils were doing in the beginning of the season. I say, give 'em a couple more weeks and they'll choke yet again. No postseason for Philly this year.

Maybe not the Cubs either at this rate.

The whole Back to the Future 2 thing, I'm assuming? Yeah, but I'd rather not wait until then. Can we just have them win now and then a couple more times and then again in 2015?

You've got about as good a chance as, oh, say... Chicago.
