Blue Thunder (1983) - these releases contain one additional scene not included on the DVD/Blu-ray versions.

More than one scene: 😃

If you mean that one shot that’s shown earlier then your right.

Do all the LDs contain the extended version? I thought it was just the pan and scan releases?

Where did you hear that it was only the Pan & Scan releases?

Another entry for your list is Explorers. The 80s home video releases were re-edited by Dante apparently and they include scenes that are not present in the DVD-Blu-ray theatrical version.

Thanks, did all the VHS releases from the 80’s and 90’0s contain this scene?

To clarify, that scene is from the theatrical cut, which has only ever been released on VHS (CIC) in PAL European countries and that was during the 80s/90s. The theatrical cut airs on UK TV fairly regularly.

Explorers UK VHS

Explorers UK VHS II

The current worldwide DVD release by Paramount uses the Dante re-edited “Special Home Version” that was released in the US on LD, VHS and Beta during the 80s.

See below for a thorough discussion of the differences. 😃

Regarding Blue Thunder, I looked into purchasing the US NTSC W/S LD a while back but the one I saw for sale on eBay appeared to have the theatrical running time. This is why I suspected that only the early pan and scan versions contain the additional scenes.

Another entry for your list is, The Charge of the Light Brigade (1968).

All current DVDs use the U.S. cut, which is shorter by 7 minutes. There was a 1992 UK VHS release that featured the original full length version. Whenever it airs on TV, I’ve recorded it, in the hope that the full length version might turn up but nothing so far.

OK, added.

Is the 1992 UK VHS of The Charge of the Light Brigade the longest version available?

Found an upgrade of the European version of Explorers (1985) on LD.
