Ac3 tracks aren’t compatible with Vegas. You’d need to convert it to an aac, mp3, pcm, or wav file. The PCM option is probably what you’re looking for if you want lossless. I believe the stereo downmix refers to what you are hearing while editing if you edit your 5.1 mix in stereo. Your render will output a 5.1 surround track if you select that in the settings.
