Ok I don't care about the Episode 3 movie not going out on VHS.

But from a home video editing point of view, VHS is absolutely useless. But as far as I'm concerned, DVD-R isn't much better. I've been delegated the enormous job (hahah... poor old me) of getting together ALL our home videos (this is everything, from the 70's to the present, so this includes Super8 reels, Hi8, VHS, Digital8... whatever you call 'em) and putting them on a format that's easier to watch.

I heard this awful rumour that the dye in DVD-R (and CD-R's for that matter) is continually shifting, and that in a decade I won't even be able to watch the damned things! So what, am I just doing this for kicks, knowing I'll have to do it all again in about ten years? I hope not.

But back to VHS - it's just crap. It's causing all sorts of problems whenever I want to capture stuff off of it (put it down to these ridiculous tapes that I've got that for some reason will only play on one VCR). Visual quality isn't actually that bad really, it's been good enough for 25 years hasn't it?

I mean look, it's the reason this whole site exists isn't it? You guys - just make yer own VHS cover, dub the Fullscreen DVD onto a tape, and voila. You're done.
