I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: TFA isn’t a ripoff of ANH. I still don’t see how they are the same movie, beyond some surface-level similarities that were obviously intended by the filmmakers.

Other than that, I agree with JakeRyan. It seems like Lord and Miller were trying to go with their signature “tongue-in-cheek” comedic style. That sort of style works for animated movies like the LEGO movie and Spider-Verse, but not so much for a movie about a young man’s loss of innocence. Nothing against them, but I’m glad they were replaced.
