Idk what program you are using, but in after effects i use the extraction feature. I extract everything but the brightest parts on a doubled layer, so theres a normal layer underneath. Then change curves or color levels and opacity. Mask just the areas of the scene i want to apply it to. I also use different mask at different opacity or feathering. Like for the ground reflection i would feather at around 120%. I would also bring the main controls on the curves up some so where the light was hitting was brighter than where it wasn’t hitting.
Corridor crew used a bit of this in there video fixing the Scorpion King with the Rock (Dwayne Johnson).

Give thought for cast lighting and shadows. The light should have an ambiance, but most of what you’re seeing should be the light reflecting on surfaces. Floor, table tops, sides of Vaders mask, etc. Not just glow in the air everywhere.
