Harry Potter (no spoilers!)

Let's revive this thread...

I just finished reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (also read the first three) and I liked it a lot, can't wait to read Phoenix.

Finally HP has become more dark and all the teenage problems start to gather, finally.

Remember this is a Spoiler-Free thread. For spoilers go over to the Spoiler Harry Potter thread. Show some consideration to the others.

Right now, there really isn't much to talk about but spoilers. Except maybe the first three books/movies. Of which, Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire is supposedly in production.

And being directed by Mike Newell; personally, I really like what Alfonso Cuaron did with Prisoner of Azkaban. Admittedly, its; not the most faithful adaptation of the novel, but it really works as a movie and presents us with a more realistic vision of Hogwarts.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

have yet to see Azkaban, but after reading the book, im not actually looking for a correct adaptation of the book. i just hope that its visually good. but its sad for all those that havent read the book.

Visually, motti, it's fantastic; my kids were split on liking it when we left the theatre (Tommy loved it, Naomi was disappointed), but upon reflection, my daughter actually wound up liking it a whole lot more.

Motti, if you are looking for faithful adaptation, you'll likely be disappointed. However, I have given up on faithfulness in adaptation (save for the spectacular job done in Mystic River), so that made me enjoy Azkaban like no other. Cuaron did a fantastic job and I wish he was coming back.

When's it come out in Denmark?

It is true that it is a far cry from the first two. My feeling is that the first two were far too cartoony and "feel good" to be a true wizard story. I always imagined HP to be a darker story as I read the books. I was disappointed by Chris Columbus' treatment of the story in terms of mood and appearance. The casting was spectacular, but otherwise. Cuaron captured what I had been imagining all along. Same goes for my wife. She loved the third one.

Speaking of the third one, when's it come out on DVD?

Why, Shimmy? If you've read any of DAYV's other reviews, he tends to stick more to the technical aspects of the DVD.
