After Palpatine bids Kylo to “become what [his] grandfather, Vader, could not,” would it work to cut to the original last shot of the scene?
There’d be more time for a wipe transition, and it’d imply Palpatine arrogantly things he’s “got” him, like he has the hooks in his jaw ala Anakin in ROTS, but with a touch of being off the money ala Luke in ROTJ.
It’s an idea, but I’m not sure it’d work. Feels like it’d be weird for Palpatine to laugh right after telling Kylo to do something. Also I like focusing more on Kylo. I’m going to see if I can finagle it without having to resort to that.

I think this is necessary. With Dom’s current cut it kinda implies that Rey is “what [Kylo’s] grandfather” could not become.
I didn’t really see it that way, but wouldn’t that work anyway? Arguably that’d be an implication to strive for.
