The Last Jedi: Rekindled (Released) — Page 49

I enjoyed this edit. Really digging the Palpatine nods sprinkled throughout TLJ now. They are subtle, but they help bring some cohesion to the disjointed sequel trilogy. I also like Rey communing with Finn through the force before he is awaken from his coma. Things that aren’t real my taste are the conservative trimming of the opening Hux/Poe scene and Luke’s still disrespectful saber toss. The Canto Bight subplot could be trimmed more in my opinion too, but overall it was top notch. Thanks for all your hard work and may the force be with you!

Poppasketti thank you for releasing a V3nopalp you are a true gentleman. The release is worth it just for the properly vfx’d shuttle scene alone. This will now be the true replacement for TLJ.

heil Palpatine!

Thank you both for the feedback! It’s always great to hear what people like and dislike (and helpful too). I’m glad overall you enjoyed the edit!

Absolutely perfect. Seamless, airtight cuts and edits. Perfectly balanced pacing and re-arrangemnet of scenes. ILM quality FX. Improves the film so much it has bumped TLJ up on my film ranking order. My only nit-pick is that I had the extremely unpopular opinion of liking the Leia Poppins scene, so I was kind of sad to see it go. Other than that, perfection. 10/10. Nothing really more I can say other than that this is the definitive cut of TLJ.

Edit:
Poppasketti, whether it be soon or years into the future, you need to find the time to pull together a TROS edit. I would watch it without even needing to see a cutlist.

My lord, I just registered in this forum, just so I could kindly ask for a PM with the Palp Edition as well 😄
I am looking forward to see this glorious idea in action.

Mind|Of|A|Child, PM sent!

Chase Adams, I’m so happy you enjoyed it! Thanks for chiming in and letting me know. Yeah, you’re not the only person who liked Leia Poppins, but it just wasn’t for me.

You might want to also check out Hal 9000’s Legendary edit. These two edits have become hybrids of each other as we keep making updates, and Legendary has the Leia Poppins scene!

I know I haven’t been actively participating right now, but I’m really enjoying reading the ideas you and the others have been coming up with on the TROS threads! Not sure if I want to make my own edit, but anything’s possible. With everything going on in the world right now, I’m sort of caught in this weird spot of feeling like I simultaneously have too much time and too little. So we’ll see!

Thank you very much for putting this together!
I really enjoyed watching the edit. It gave me something, that the original movie couldn’t give me and I can’t even describe what it was.
So, thank you 😃

poppasketti said:

I think ROTJ and TLJ already established her force-sensitivity pretty well without her spacewalk.

In ROTJ, Luke tells her of her power and she uses it a couple of times:
“Somehow, I’ve always known…”
“He wasn’t. I can feel it…”

In TLJ, she has a mother-son force interaction with Kylo-Ren just before the bridge explosion, and she connects with Luke from her hospital bed.

I also just want to clarify that I don’t dislike the spacewalk because of how powerful/not powerful Leia is supposed to be. My brain just could never muster enough suspension of disbelief to accept that anyone blown into outer space can survive. I know there are studies suggesting it could be possible to survive for a minute or two, but in my mind, basic logic and storytelling dictates that she should have died. I would feel exactly the same if it were Luke.

I don’t like the head fake of making us think she’s dead and then using the force as a deus ex machina to get her out of the situation. It cheapens the stakes for me. I’m okay with it in Guardians of the Galaxy, because that plays a lot more fast and loose with the rules and is just plain fun (it’s also actually set up better than what happens in TLJ). But in Star Wars, that’s a basic rule of logic that I think should stick.

The Empire Strikes Back also implies that Leia is Force-sensitive.

The unfortunate reality of the Star Wars prequel and Disney trilogies is that they will always be around. Forever. They will never go away. It can never be undone.

I also prefer to be referred to as “TNT”, not “Freezing”.

Thanks Mind|Of|A|Child! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!

FreezingTNT2, yeah Ash pointed that out before. Leia and Luke have a force connection at cloud city, when Luke is hanging from the antenna.

V3 UPDATE!

After finishing the V3 no-Palpatine version, I went back and looked at the Palpatine version and, as often happens when stepping away from a project for a few weeks, I noticed something I wanted to fix.

I still wasn’t happy with the sound mix for the Palpatine Contact scene, so I redid it. I have already uploaded all of the new files with the date “042020”, as well as the lossless audio, AC3, and DTS files for those who’d like to simply remix the audio themselves (the video is unchanged).

This is a relatively minor change, but I definitely recommend it as it’s an adjustment to a key V3 scene. I’m sorry for these post-release tweaks and fixes, as I know many have bandwidth limits and can’t just download new files all of the time.

Thank you everyone for the feedback and support! This project became more elaborate and rewarding than I ever imagined!

Thanks for the update poppa.

I’m going to bed right now, but I’ll snag the big guy tomorrow morning before work! 😉

Thanks for further justifying my dragging my feet on the MySpleen uploads! 😉

I’ll get to them this week, I swear…

Ha! Whenever you get to it is fine, Ash! Thank you!

V3 (the full version with Palpatine teases) is now uploaded to MySpleen in both 34GB 1080p and 4GB 720p flavors!

I’ll do the “NoPalp” version if there’s interest, but it’ll be a week or so before I can upload it.

If you’re asking that it means you don’t have a MySpleen account, which unfortunately you can’t get since MySpleen is a closed tracker now. Sorry.

Go ahead and shoot poppasketti a PM and he’ll send you his link. 😃

Already sent the PM!
Thanks guys! And thank you, Ash, for posting to the spleen!

I’ll take another look but from what I remember that was in the original cut. I did a double take on it, too, but I think it’s either an original error, or it’s kind of like an Apple loading progress bar that sometimes jumps backwards.

Just took another look and it’s on the blu-ray. Not sure if it’s a real error, or something like I was describing. Perhaps the dreadnought was emitting interference and the scanner jammed for a moment, losing progress?!

Hello poppasketti, would you be able to share a link to the Palpatine version? It would be greatly appreciated. I have seen Hal’s Legendary version and really liked it. So hearing that this one is similar, minus Leia Poppins, and with some Palpatine teases thrown in peaked my interest. Can’t wait to watch it.

Hi Poppasketti, I’ve read through all the changes you’ve made, and this sounds like a great edit! Can you PM me a link to the Palpatine version?

Wow this sounds like an amazing edit and I’d love to see it! You’ve addressed almost everything I would dream of and more. The palps hints are a great way to try and make the sequels seem a bit more planned. Can I get a PM with the download link?
