Just wondering if anyone knows what set this is?

Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope SE

  • Anamorphic 2.35:1 PAL version of the 1997 cinematic release
  • DD2.0 sound @ 192Kb
  • Static main and chapter menus
  • English subtitles whenever alien is spoken
  • Chapterstops same as on the SE Laserdisc release

Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back

  • Anamorphic 2.35:1 PAL version of the 1997 cinematic release
  • DD2.0 sound @ 192Kb
  • Static main and chapter menus
  • Chapterstops same as on the SE Laserdisc release

Star Wars Episode VI - Return of the Jedi SE

  • Anamorphic 2.35:1 PAL version of the 1997 cinematic release
  • DD2.0 sound @ 192Kb
  • Static main and chapter menus
  • English subtitles whenever alien is spoken
  • Chapterstops same as on the SE Laserdisc release

Thanks for any help, and yes I did do a search but did not notice anything that matched this.

I don't know, but I can narrow it down to just a few candidates: TB and GKar. Maybe it's some other little-known variant, but those are the two widely-available versions that use PAL DVB as a source.

I first got a copy of this sort of thing back in 2002, and it's not TB nor GKar, so other versions do exist.

Yeah I was able to rule out GKar and TB.

Then they're the TB releases, aren't they? The source is definitely French DVB -- Canal+, I believe.

All I can tell you is that it's been captured from Canal+. Probably here in Scandinavia, since we have (or used to have) a channel called Canal+ Blå (blue) with that exact logo, although they might have had the same name and logo in France.

We also have that here in Holland: it's recorded off of Canal+ somewhere.

EDIT: And if that's so it can't be anamorphic, right?

That's no moon. It's a LaserDisc.

It turned out to be the TB release.

Told you!!

(Actually, I wasn't all that sure, and was sorta hoping it was yet another version...)

Yeah it came with some nfo files that I totally forgot about.

just out of interest where did you find these? I've been looking for a good PAL version of the 97 SEs, which is the best version?

I think that the best version is the GKar German version.

If you can handle the German crawl and German alien subtitles, this is the one for you.

If you want a fully English version version, check out the TB Release.

Both have been available on a.b.starwars in the recent past.

There are a few screenshots and a bit of info here.
