I whish there was more conflict between the two, they tried a little with the “your no Leia” scene but we needed more, TLJ should have had the two them go out on an adventure while being in conflict , perhaps Poe hates the stormtroopers and is eager to kill them, perhaps he seeks revenge for something they did to him or his parents, Finn on the other hand would try to help them, seeing the light in his former comrades, Poe opposes and so you have a back and forth tension throughout the film leading to a resolution that progresses their characters.
They tried to do this whole thing where people kept not telling people things, and they weren’t working well together and problems were happening. The issue with this is “not telling people things” isn’t as dramatic as actions, and they only have a couple of examples of that (like Rey facing the TIE fighter alone), and they’re never really interrogated, and ultimately the conflict is never really resolved besides Poe saying “I need you to command with me,” which is pretty basic. You can see a bunch of ways how they could have easily improved this.
