I’m sure this will be an idea that doesn’t appeal to everyone, but I’ve been trying to think of ways to imply that Anakin was responsible for bonding Rey and Ben together as a dyad in the Force.

I had been trying to think of a clear way to resolve the conundrum between Anakin being the “Chosen One” who was destined to bring balance to the Force, according to George, but Palpatine returning and then being taken down by Rey and Ben in the Sequel Trilogy. If Rey and Ben together are meant to represent the light and the dark coming together, a literal manifestation of balance, it would be rather appropriate for Anakin to be responsible for that connection, and potentially the one figure that has the power to create such a bond, besides the Force itself.

I also think it ties into George’s lore with the Mortis gods a little, for those of you who’ve watched the Clone Wars. The Father kept balance between the light side, the Daughter, and the dark side, the Son, which eventually fell apart. Now, Anakin restored balance between the light side, Rey, and the dark side, Ben. Palpatine mentions that a dyad in the Force had been unseen for generations, so perhaps the Daughter and the Son at one point were also a dyad in the Force.

Anyway, just thought it was a simple way to tie together the Chosen One/dyad/balance stuff. Not really sure how to illustrate that idea in the films themselves, though. Maybe through the Jedi voices? Hmm.
