I watched "Rear Window" on TCM tonight, and noticed that the flashgun Jimmy Stewart defends himself with at the movie's climax appears to be a Graflex!

I think I'll get my copy of "Rope" and add some CGI lightsabers to it. Kids today would find this James Stewart and Hitchcock classic a bit dull, perhaps a bit of the SW magic could make it better for them.

God knows this CGI magic makes the otherwise dull OT much better for me.

If GL bought the rights to Hitchcock films, he would add some weeeird SGI stuff on it and release it.


North by Northwest: re-film the whole plane sequence with a CGI tie-fighter.
Psycho: Norman Bates IS a Sith Lord. We only find out in the end though...
Rope: Have Yoda stand over the infamous trunk, giving James Stewart some advice thru the movie.
Birds: Picture this... not birds, but CGI gargoyles!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it true that the original version of Vertigo isn't available on DVD?

Vertigo was carefully restored and reissued in theaters a couple years before the DVD release. It was presented with a new DTS soundtrack. The original foley and sound effects tracks were long lost, so there were recreated. Naturally, some people were going to complain it wasn't the original mix. But, it certainly wasn't a fly by night hack job like the OT DVD's were! Perhaps somebody somewhere has lifted the original mix off the old LD, and synched it to the DVD by now.

There's a big DVD set of about 14 Hitchcock movies coming out this fall. They've all apparently got new video transfers, and "Vertigo" is listed as having both 5.1 and 2.0 mono DD tracks. There's still some curiosity if the 2.0 mono refers to the commentary or the original mono track.
