I have mentioned before that I was a bit disappointed that the Skywalker saber did change at all, really, despite TLJ creating the opportunity for Rey to build a saber of her own. Since we can’t give her a new lightsaber, I thought it would be interesting if broken crystal resulted in some kind of visual effect that paralleled the instability of Kylo Ren’s cracked crystal. But instead of it being fiery and unstable, it could pulsate rhythmically. This is sort of an example of what I was thinking. This first test is really subtle, maybe too subtle, but I think it gives the saber a living, breathing quality to it.
