I wonder if we could have the dyad concept introduced in The Force Awakens. Maybe when Kylo and Snoke first speak via hologram, it could go something like this.

Snoke: There has been an awakening. Have you felt it?

Kylo Ren: The dark side…

Snoke: -And the light.

Kylo Ren: A dyad in the Force…

Then as Nev mentioned, we get further exposition in TLJ.

Snoke: Darkness rises! And light to meet it… I warned my young apprentice that as he grew stronger, his equal in the light would rise. Skywalker, I assumed, wrongly.

And of course, we get the Force bond which kind of hammers in that connection.

And I think something further you could do is seed the Force whispers in a place or two in TFA, like Nev did for Starlight, and it kind of gives this feeling that Rey is being guided throughout the films by a supernatural force. Then, in the climax of TROS, as she is chanting “Be with me” and the camera floats up to the sky, we could once again hear the indecipherable Force whispers, but this time they crystallize into the voices of the Jedi. This could help give the implication that the spirits of the Jedi have been guiding Rey all along. This could give some extra weight to this moment, since it might feel more like a pay off than it was before.
