No. It would be a pretty cool set up for a continued story where the Dark Phoenix has taken control of the earth and enslaved its population to punish Charles for pretending to love humanity so much while at the same time ruining Jean’s life.
Don’t worry the X-School isn’t that close to Manhattan and they could have survived. 😃
