Have anyone thought about doing an edit in which Rey heals Kylo, then we dont See what happens to him. Later he Doesnt show up to help her fighting Lord Sidious. Then, she dies (or lives). And After the battle, the last scene would be Kylo seeing the vision of HAN Solo, then throwing off the lightsaber and that would be the closing scene. Why does work for me? Because, Kylo Doesnt redeem himself, he Doesnt die. We dont know what happens next. He s like, he cant go back to the FO obviously, he cant join the resistance either. But he is Ben again, and we know he will have to figure out somehow how to live, what to do, how to repair all the evil he made. And that would be a great ending to the story. It would leave us with a good open ending.

Anyone know where one can get high res downloads of tv spots and trailers? I found one website but they only had the teaser, special look, and main trailer. Sad that I’m so starved for deleted content that I’m looking for extra shots or frames in trailers, but also in a film that moves this fast sometimes those things can make a difference.

Also, anyone have a solution for removing the premature Chewie reveal? The only thing I can think of is moving Kylo’s force talk with Palpatine up to that point and changing the dialogue but I feel like it works better where it is.

Regarding the Reynbow; she’s a Jedi, not Maud Dib.

I did love that concept art in the BTS of her sitting on the Skywalker dome watching the sunset, wish they would have executed that instead.

Regarding how to handle postponing the reveal that Chewie is alive, could you
not just splice the two scenes in Ochi’s ship? You could just keep the shot of the TIE fighters hauling in the Millenium Falcon, then wipe back to the gang on Ochi’s ship.

Alternatively, you could order the scenes like this:
Chewie is presumably killed.
Est. of Ochi’s ship hiding in asteroid field.
Poe, Finn and Rey decide to go to Kijimi.
They leave the asteroid field, with the Knights of Ren on their tail.
Finn and Rey talk about what happened [remove BB-8 insert].
BB-8 reactivates D-O and brings him to Rey.

It might be weird because Rey is quiet in the first scene, but then still shaken with tears on her face in the second.

Or, you could just use the Falcon being hauled in, plus the brief scene of Kylo in the hallway where Palpatine communes with him. But you could change the context of that scene, too.

I don’t have the film yet so I’m flying a little blind. No specific spot in mind but I’d ideally want to have all of them to cross reference with the film.

Seeing you lay it out like that, I just thought of an easier solution: put the shot of the asteroid field in between the two Ochi’s ship scenes.

You could do that! But the last shot on Pasaana is Kylo watching them run toward Ochi’s ship. So you could cut from that, to Rey looking at her hand on the Falcon.

That might actually work though! Perhaps if you needed to smooth the transition, you could do a J cut to have Rey‘s dialogue start before we cut away from Kylo. You could also have engine sounds in the background to make it seem like Poe is off-screen flying them away from Pasaana. Then we would get that establishing shot after they’ve found a place to hide.

Little cheeky but maybe you could put in the shot of the ship leaving Jakku.

Hey! That’s not a bad idea! I recall there being another version of that shot in one of the visions. Also, it could be a great way to recontextualize why Rey saw that ship in her TFA vision, too.

If you’re looking for inserts to drawn out some scenes I think some of the ocean wave scenes from Interstellar could be pilfered to provide more of a sense of environment to the scenes with the partially submerged wreckage of the Death Star.
