Regarding how to handle postponing the reveal that Chewie is alive, could you
not just splice the two scenes in Ochi’s ship? You could just keep the shot of the TIE fighters hauling in the Millenium Falcon, then wipe back to the gang on Ochi’s ship.

Alternatively, you could order the scenes like this:
Chewie is presumably killed.
Est. of Ochi’s ship hiding in asteroid field.
Poe, Finn and Rey decide to go to Kijimi.
They leave the asteroid field, with the Knights of Ren on their tail.
Finn and Rey talk about what happened [remove BB-8 insert].
BB-8 reactivates D-O and brings him to Rey.

It might be weird because Rey is quiet in the first scene, but then still shaken with tears on her face in the second.

Or, you could just use the Falcon being hauled in, plus the brief scene of Kylo in the hallway where Palpatine communes with him. But you could change the context of that scene, too.
