Just a question for the sciencey people out there:
Speaking in terms of geography, do any of you reckon that the fallout of the DSII as well as all the debris may have caused a major environmental shift in Endor’s climate, resulting in huge spans of oceans and flooding as a way of explaining why Endor now looks so different in this cut of the film?
If we go down this path, we may need to replace the establishing shot of the planet Kef Bir with a planet more similar with the forest moon. It also may be a good idea to add many more trees to the background of the more ‘grassland’ type shots to minimalise the contrast between the Ewok shot looking just like Endor and the rest of the scenes having no trees and just being grassy plains and huge oceans.
I’m sure poppasketti will be able to pull something like this off! 😉
I agree that would help, but I’m sure even if the film were like that we would have all accepted it as Endor anyway.
It’s odd how when Star Wars shows a planet it can only be ocean or desert or lava. One planet can have different climates; we live on one of those. But maybe that’s too much reality.

I don’t think it is a stretch for people to believe a temperate moon like Endor has grasslands across the coastlines. Naboo has swamps and pastures, it isn’t a completely homogenous climate. I also figured most people assumed that as soon as we saw the Death Star wreckage in the trailer, that it was Endor. I think having a transition shot like that is enough to show the audience that it’s Endor.

I actually recall that after the first trailer, people were comparing screenshots to prove that it was Endor! 😂

I wonder if it’d be at all doable or even a good idea to have her vanish right after Ben’s resolution after talking with Han.
Personally, when I’ll make my own edit, she’ll vanish right after Ben’s redemption.
When I watched the movie and saw her vanishing I said: “Wait… she was still there!?”.
PS: I totally don’t know if I can do it, or if others will like it, but I’ll also try to add some actual Force Ghosts during ReyVSPalpy, at least Anakin’s.

Yes I’m quite certain that’s the reason, although I don’t care. I can think of at least a few different explanations that’d satisfy me. In my mind the potential error is worth it to get Leia’s voice in there.

It’s something we’ve discussed before. The issue is that Poe speaks to Leia’s dead body, which comes after the Han scene. The problem with just moving the Han scene is it’s tied in a knot (Han scene > Palpatine puts Pryde in charge > Kijimi blows up > Poe put in charge > Poe talks to Leia’s body).
I agree that the fact wouldn’t keep me from using her voice anyway. It’d probably need to be that way, as removing her from the Poe scene would be a lot of work.
Hmm… TFA:R no longer names Hosnian Prime onscreen. Inserting a shot of Coruscant into TROS:A may be slightly confusing. I’d do it anyway, because it’s not a real problem, but something to consider.
Well if anything, it helps clear up that the planet that was blown up wasn’t actually Coruscant. Plus, Coruscant didn’t have other planets/moons around it like Hosnian Prime did. It would be nice if Hosnian was somehow named in TFA:R though.

Not saying it should, but the opening crawl could spell out that the planet we open on is Mustafar.
Maybe something about how Kylo “searches relentlessly for his grandfather’s SITH WAYFINDER to unlock his former master’s power” or something.
I think in the absence of deleted scenes, Mustafar has got to go and the movie needs to start on Exegol. Or whatever glacier plaet thing the Rebels are at and then do Exegol after.

You can say he found the Wayfinder while searching for Snoke’s secrets, or something.
If you removed the ash forest sequence from the beginning, but still wanted to include Mustafar in the film, you could reuse a shot from Rogue One to create a new establishing shot of Vader’s castle for the scene where Kylo has his mask reforged.
Also, does it really make sense that Vader would have the wayfinder? I feel like Exegol would’ve been a secret Palpatine kept from Vader.
That’s another reason I favor just starting the film with Kylo having it and mentioning in the crawl that he discovered it because Smoke somehow.
