Oh ok sory.

The fish slapping sketch is not featured in any of their movies (it could be on "And now for something completly different", I'm not sure), it's on their TV series, Monty Python's Flying Circus.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

Here's a cliche that needs to stop... Damon Wayans playing a flaming gay guy a la In Living Colour and many scenes in his TV show.
"You fell victim to one of the classic blunders, the most famous of which is 'Never get involved in a land war in Asia'."

Oh, oh, here's a good cliche: a movie set in the 60s with either "House of Rising sun" or "turn turn turn" on the background score.

Turn Turn Turn moreso. I love that song but I'm tired of it being in just about every movie of that era. I agree.

How about all the damn romcoms using Van Morrison's "Someone Like You"? First it was Only the Lonely, then French Kiss, then, within weeks of each other, we had the movie Someone Like You and Bridget Jones' Diary. ENOUGH ALREADY!!

That's not a cliche, that's my freaking life!

AMEN! This easily accounts for much of why the divorce rate in the U.S. is 50%.

Minorities such as Native Americans or Asians will always have some sort of mystical knowledge or inate fighting skill. For example, the Native American always knows the course of events to come from some sign in nature, and Asians are all born with Martial Arts skills they can use to battle the bad guys.

The cliche where adults are incompotent and their kids seem to have every thing under control, or their unable to control their kids..

The cliche where some psuedo-scientists gives jargon-filled speach that really means nothing--it's in a lot of non-serious sci-fi.

Like, "If we activate the quantum flux generator, it will send quantum-protons and quantum anti-electrons into orbit, causing the whole world to spin backwards, reversing the flow of time."

Something like that was actually in an old episode of power rangers....

One more: Villlains having names that resemble evil things: Like "Rita Repulsa"(ha ha--she's repulsive..funny) "Dick Dastardly" and the mustached guy from Dudley DoWright, I forget his name.

i'd just like to see more unhappy endings worked great in empire
Author

but empire's ending was more of a cliffhanger instead of an unhappy ending.
Author

well that's true but it don't make it an unhappy ending.

I'm not necessarily in favour of the miserable, depressing ending, but I love ambiguous ones. See Dirty Pretty Things for a great example of an ambiguous ending.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

to me a good ambiguous ending is 12 Angry Men. The boy is found not guilty, but it is still not clear wheither or not he killed his father.
