I'm not crazy about Kerry, But I don't like Nader and I hate Bush. I think we really need to get Bush out of office, and the best chance of doing that is to vote for Kerry. But, I still won't make up my mind for certain untill election day. If there were an independent candidate that wasn't too liberal, too conservative, too stupid, too much of a nutcase, or crooked and had good chance winning I would vote for him/her. Nader is too liberal for me and has no chance of winning. All he will do is lower Kerry's chance of winning. if I had to vote right now, I'd probably vote for Kerry. But I would also have to take a good bath afterwards

This is all getting too complicated...I thought we were supposed to vote for candidates we believed in, not one we just groan and vote for anyway. If I had the nerve, I'd do a write-in for Jefferson Smith...

wow Americans seem to have faith in the people they are electing...
I seem to vote for the person who is less likely to screw us... because i believe in the end that everyone who is running is just waiting for their piece of the pie.

if anyone followed the whole Dalton McGinty situation you would see my point...
damn i hate the government!

Jimbo, you sounded very reasonable in this last post of yours. I feel like I can discuss with you. And just between you and me, if I did vote for one of the major party candidates, it would be Bush. He's firm with his positions, and even though I don't agree with a fair amount of what he's firm on, at least he does stick to his guns, unlike Kerry. Is JK for or against the Patriot Act? Never could figure that out, along with many of his other stances. Oh, I get it...he's BOTH for AND against the same stuff, because he doesn't have to have views, since people are only voting for him because he's not a certain George W. Bush.

John Kerry voted for the Patriot Act. He is no better then Bush on this issue. I hate the act. Still Bush beats Kerry on several things. Gay Marriage, Affermative Action, Taxes, and terrorism all seem like terrible things to leave in the hands of John Kerry. For all of Bushes imperfections Kerry is alot worse. Bush I guess is the lesser of two evils.

maybe Bush is the lesser of two evils for those who feel the way that you do about the issues. However, for me and my stances on the issues Kerry is the lesser of two evils.

Now I don't have a history book handy, but if I remember correctly, we lost something like 50000+ men in Vietnam. And now we've lost fewer than 1000 men in Iraq but it's suddenly a "second Vietnam?" I realize every death is tragic, but comparing Iraq to Vietnam at this point is ridiculous.

And if you're definitely not going to be voting for Bush, by all means vote for Nader.

It really isn't that funny. Unfortunately politicians lie; but it's plain that liberals do it more.

But Jimbo's right about Conservatives not needing to lie as much.

I strongly urge everyone to read the article that i linked to earlier in this topic. You'll find it will paint things in a different light, no matter what your political slant is.
Which is the more foolish, the fool (the OT) or the fool who follows (the PT)?

Someone who won't destroy the environment or try to take our freedom with his God awful Patriot Act. Still Kerry is such a wrong direction for the country. The last thing we need is another Bill Clinton. Bush isn't perfect but he is a Hell of alot better then Kerry. What sucks is I turn 18 6 months after the election. So I can't vote. Though I know my parents are voting for Bush.

You have to be 18 to vote? I thought it was 16. Oh well. Ah, but you're going to register to vote, eh, Jimbo? Good for you.

The thing is, it's not up to the media to bring up third parties candidates, because they'll never do it. Do you think Fox News would give equal time for Bush and a green party candidate? I don't think so. People, big corporations put their money on those 2 puppets. You have the oil companies and the war industries supporting the republicans, you have the major banks and the big commercer corporations supporting the democrats, and whoever donates the huger amount of money, elects the puppet who'll rule america for them, not for you. So you indirectly elect someone to rule for the big ones, not for the little people. THAT's what's wrong with america, can't you see? And it's not only in america, it happens anywhere, it happens here in Brazil as well (not for long I hope). So the thing is, you gotta stop being babysited by the media, stop voting for who the TV tells you to. Go to the streets, talk to your congressmen or your senator or whatever. Support a change in the electoral system. Give more credit for other parties, I highly recomend the American Green Party - except on the marijuana issues . Vote for other parties, so they can have more people in Washington. Next election, I would like to see at least strong 4 candidates debating on real issues, and not on patriotic acts or Iraq. C'mon people, it's up to you!

Can you guys believe how much dough this movie made this past weekend in the U.S.? US$21.8 million. That's unprecendented for a documentary. Never has a doc hit #1 at the U.S. box office. Very cool to see this kind of response.

F 9/11 earned more in its opening weekend than Bowling For Columbine did in its entire run.

Warbler, thank you for helping to prove the point I was making just a few posts above yours.
A lot of people don't like Kerry, but they dislike Bush more. I personally think it would be a horrible thing if Kerry ended up in office, even though so many people have problems with him.

Sorry, jimbo, but I'm sure plenty of conservatives went to it too, so they could more fully understand the hatred that Moore has for the American way of life.
'They are possibly the dumbest people on the planet," Moore told Britain's Mirror newspaper recently, referring to his fellow citizens as a whole.

It would be even more horrible if Bush got reelected, and since no one else has a chance to win, Kerry is the lesser of two evils. (for those who share my stance on the issues that is)

Sorry to burst your bubble, Jimbo, but exit polls over the weekend at the movie showed that it was a 60/40 split dems/reps. Almost as many Republicans went to see it as Democrats. Read that in some Reuters articles about the weekend box office.

I may end up waiting for it to come out on DVD...though I do want to see it. I'm sure Moore stretches some truths and fabricates some lies, but I couldn't prove it, so I'll just go into the movie with an open mind and the determination to take what he says with a grain of salt. We have to do that with politicians anyway.

I did know he lied in Bowling for Columbin. He made it look like a banks free gun offer just let him walk out with it. In reality Moore had to wait 2 weeks and was given a backgroud check. If this isn't a total and complete lie I don't know what is.

I heard this story on the nationally syndicated radio show of Glenn Beck.
A sheriff/police officer from Texas called it in earlier today (wish I had a transcript of it).

I was going to post the story earlier, but I wasn't sure I had all the details right. Then, someone posted it on another board I visit.

From the other board:
He once staged a "pro" capital punishment rally down here in Texas. He hired extras to "act" as if they were celebrating an execution with beer and BBQ while a convicted cop-killer was being put down after 24 years on death row. He filmed the rally and dubbed it "this is how Texans celebrate an execution." The victim's family were deeply affected. BOTH the pro-victims rights group AND anti-capital punishment group condemned Moore's actions.

Additional info I remember:
- The caller was a sheriff/police officer who was interviewed by Moore's production crew.
- Moore hired a cheerleading team to be outside the jail where the execution took place.
- Moore had a "scoreboard" built that read "Texas Bush: 1XX (don't recall the exact number), Florida Bush: 2"

its not like he said omg i cant believe i got a gun in one day!! and plus he was told that they do a background check on him before he gets his gun... it was in the scene when he is filling out the form i believe...

I still need to see that one, if I can ever get in the right frame of mind to sit down with it.
